December 2018

Redwood City Señors Softball Club

Minutes for December 13, 2018 Board of Directors Meeting

The December 2018 meeting was called to order at 7:14 PM by President, Dennis Logie. Board members present were Dennis, Steve Bowerman, Pat Michael, Bill Picht, Dave Reck, Angelo Rizzato, and Hiro Tarumi. Not present but on phone conference were Pete Lewis and Rick Bowlby.

Guest: Pete Kutch

AGENDA ITEMS:

1. The November 2018 Board of Directors Meeting Minutes were approved as written. Minutes are sent to all Directors, posted to the Club website, and sent to Donna O’Farrell for historical recording.

2. The November 2018 Treasurer’s Report was approved as submitted by Treasurer, Angelo Rizzato. The report reflected incoming revenue from the holiday party and 2019 dues payments. Next month will include the party’s expenses. This year the Club initiated the use of a Square credit card reader to accept payments. The Board will look into alternative methods to avoid the Square fees.

3. Holiday Party review – Pete Kutch, the Party Coordinator, provided a post party report that covered expenses, attendance, sales, and lessons learned. The Financial Report showed the party ended in the red by $13.00. Pete and Deb Kutch indicated they will be back next year as the party co-chairs.

4. Hawes Winter League (Saturdays) – Play started on December 8 with a good turnout. The Knights played Turn Two and Gold Rush played the Chiefs. It was decided that 11 was the maximum number of players allowed on the field. With rain predicted this weekend and at any time, deciding that the field is playable or not can be tricky. Hiro has established a good rapport with the Redwood City field manager, Rich, to monitor the situation and report on the Club’s Rain Line.

5. Winter League (Saturdays) Rules Review – There was much discussion on the bat rules. The younger division will use the same rules as Night Play. The older division rules will be modified to ensure safety. The main area of concern is when a younger player on an older team and playing against an older team has a bat that presents a safety problem. Pete lewis will revise the older division bat rule and submit it for Board review.

6. 2019 Tournament Information – Bill reports that we are locked in for July 20-21 for the Club’s 2019 tournament. The only known competition that weekend will be Carson City.

7. Annual Meeting for 2019 – Pat presented the Annual Membership Meeting agenda and the ballot to be used at the meeting to elect the 2019 Board of Directors. The Annual Meeting is scheduled for January 3, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center.

8. Blood Drive for members – Jeff Barile is coordinating any members that want to donate blood to a donor station. Two members have contributed so far.

9. Uses of Master Mailing List (Roster) – There have been instances where the Club’s Roster has been used for unofficial reasons. The Roster has information in it that is not for public release. The only persons allowed access to the Roster and any subset of the Roster is the Club Recorder, the Board, and specific others with Board approval. Bill will write up a Club policy and Dennis will send a reminder to Club members.

10. Club Websites – The original Club website is still up and running which occasionally causes confusion with anyone doing a Redwood City Senior Softball online search. The new Club website is the official one that the Club maintains. An effort will be made to close down the older website so searchers can only find the official site.

11. Fall/Winter Night League update – Delayed until January meeting.

12. Inventory of Snack Shack – Delayed until January meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.

The next monthly Board Meeting will follow the Annual Meeting scheduled for Thursday January 3, 2019 at 7:00PM.

Respectfully submitted by Pat Michael, Club Secretary
