Minutes for October 12, 2016 Board of Directors Meeting

The October 2016 meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Dennis Logie, President. Other Board members present: Steve Bowerman, Pete Lewis, Pat Michael, Bill Picht, Dave Reck, Angelo Rizzato, Hiro Tarumi. Rob Weiss was absent. Guests: Pete and Debbie Kutch, Holiday Party Coordinators.

AGENDA ITEMS COVERED:

1. The September 2016 Board Meeting Minutes were approved as written. Minutes are sent to all Directors, posted to the Club website, and sent to Donna O’Farrell for historical recording.

2. The September 2016 Treasurer’s Report was approved as submitted by Treasurer, Angelo Rizzato. The report showed a whopping 23¢ interest earned last month and also showed the 1 Pitch event finished with a small profit.

3. Holiday Party – Pete and Debbie Kutch went over the menu for this year’s party and it included halibut instead of salmon. Prime rib and chicken are still included. The invitation is ready and will be distributed to the Club in late October along with the raffle tickets. Because the location of the venue has changed, information on the location will also be distributed. Pete and Angelo are working to make sure we have liability and liquor insurance for the day of the party.

4. Night Play Update – Pete Lewis reports that the Night League started September 12 at Hawes and is going well although last Monday had low attendance due to Columbus Day and a Giants game.

5. Señors Games – The Games occurred on September 22-23 and were well attended, similar to 2 years ago. The Games did not occur last year. Dennis reported the Games were run with little expense thanks to all the volunteer help and a good deal on the medals. The only significant expense was renting ‘Old Sparkie’ for $75. Games results and pictures are on the Club website.

6. 2017 Annual Meeting – Pat will draft the letters to request nominations for the 2017 Board of Directors and to announce the 2017 Annual Meeting. The nomination letter will be emailed to all Club members in October. Voting for the 2017 Board will take place at the Annual Meeting January 5, 2017.

7. Second Tournament for Redwood City – Dennis has checked with the RWC Parks and Rec and was told that no fields are available at any of the dates we would consider for a 2nd tournament. The Club Tournament is scheduled for June 22-25, 2017.

8. Member Upset Report – The Board is well aware of the seriousness of this situation and has contacted all members involved. Any recurrence will result in further disciplinary action.

9. Club Shirts/Hats – Pete distributed a spreadsheet that showed pricing for T, sweatshirt, and polo shirts. They would all have the Club logo on them. Mark Kaufmann will be invited to next month’s meeting to provide more details. Steve Bowerman led the discussion on ordering more Club hats. Angelo will talk to Mark about more black and white hats.

10. Saturday League – Teams are being formed and an announcement will go out soon. The League will run November 12 – February 25. Hiro and Pete will be the League Managers. They estimate 6-7 teams will play.

11. Change of Bank – Angelo says we are currently with Wells Fargo who is going through a rough time. He is considering changing to a new bank with a better return on investment.

12. Señors Logo – The Club logo on the backstops is either peeling off on its own or getting help from people. We are considering looking for other locations to put the logo and with a better adhesive.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:10 PM. Next monthly Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday November 3, 2016.
