Minutes for July 2, 2015 Board of Directors Meeting

The July 2015 meeting was called to order by Dennis Logie, President, at 7:00 PM. Board members present: Dennis, Steve Bowerman, Pete Lewis, Bill Picht, Dave Reck, Angelo Rizzato, Hiro Tarumi. Pat Michael was on vacation. Rob Weiss was welcomed as a guest club member attendee.

AGENDA ITEMS COVERED:

1. The June 2015 Board Meeting Minutes were approved as written. Minutes are sent to all Directors, posted to the official Club website, and sent to Donna O’Farrell for historical recording.

2. The June 2015 Treasurer’s Report was approved as submitted by Treasurer, Angelo Rizzato. Last payment for the telephone rain line was issued to Joe Bozzuto. New line will be issued to Hero with same telephone number.

3. 2015 Sponsored Teams – No change from last month with five teams to be sponsored at $600 each. Teams will also be compensated $300 each as the RWC June tournament was cancelled.

4. Summer Field Use – Resurfacing of the Red Morton fields has slipped to November 2 and will take 4 months. Dennis reported that we will play at Hoover during the summer beginning July 7. Dennis will check with the city for summer, second Hoover field availability. Dennis reported that the city will attempt to make some field available for day play beyond the summer during Red Morton resurfacing.

5. June 25-28 Tournament – Bill reported on the cancellation due to time constrictions regarding field availability. A total of 29 teams had expressed interest. Bill invited them next year assuring new fields will be better than ever. Bill has agreement with Hal Feinburg to credit NCSSA $125 tournament insurance for 2016. Bill will store balls/paperwork.

6. 4th of July One-Pitch – Bill reported on July cancellation and plans for Labor Day instead. Dennis will verify Red Morton field availability with the city and select Tournament Director.

7. Logo on New Backstop Pads and Scoreboards – To commemorate the Club’s donation of the scoreboards, RWC hosted on July 2, a ceremony with BBQ which featured the Club’s logo on new backstop pads and the scoreboard. It was agreed that the scoreboard logo may need to be enlarged to assure visibility.

8. Club Logo at RWC Entrances – Steve will investigate the possibility of placing our logo on the Welcome to Redwood City placard at various locations.

9. San Jose Giants Outing – Angelo reported substantial club member signups for the S.J. Giants game and BBQ on July 15. The cost to the Club will be $11 (up a dollar from last year) but for members it will remain at $15. Sign ups must be completed by July 13. Tickets will be available at Will Call Window. 10. Hats – Angelo reported successful hat sales and ordered additional 25 grey and 25 black. Cost to members is $12.

11. Non Profit tax return status. Angelo reported 2015 filings completed for Federal /State and Sec of State info.

12. Spring/Summer night league- Pete, Steve, and Angelo reported 27 players tried the 3 team format successfully. Pete will check with Eric on Wednesday night Hawes Park availability for winter league. More players are expected.

13. Round Table – Hiro proposed optional use of small ball for 80’s. It was agreed to have a one month trial .Hiro also reported that the trial 175 minimum outfielder placement works well. Pete will incorporate it in the day play rules. Pete will attempt to install website access to recent video ad for MLB starring Jim Tyson. Dave will contact Gail to get You Tube information and give it to Pete.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

Next Board meeting will be Thursday, August 6, 2015.
