Redwood City Señors Softball Club
The annual meeting was led by President Dennis Logie in the Veterans Memorial Senior Center Theater at 7:00 PM. All (9) Board members were present: Dennis, Steve Bowerman, Bob Elwood, Pete Lewis, Pat Michael, Dave Reck, Angelo Rizzato, Hiro Tarumi, and Lee Thompson. Seven (7) additional Club members were present. All attendees were given an agenda and ballots.
President’s Introductory Remarks: Dennis welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending.
2013 Annual Meeting Minutes: Pat, as Secretary, reviewed last year’s minutes and they were approved.State of the Club: Dennis reviewed the highlights of 2013 where the Club had their oldest player retire at 93, ran a hitting clinic, sponsored several tournament teams, one of which (70 Royals) won a World Championship in Las Vegas, coordinated Night Play, Day Play, and a Saturday League, hosted a successful June tournament, played San Bruno and Cupertino in Home and Away games, put on a 4th of July 1-Pitch Tournament with the largest turnout ever, organized a San Jose Giants outing for the most ever 60 members and guests, and held the annual Holiday Dinner Party with 130 attendees. Dennis also mentioned the loss of several members during the year. 2013 Annual Financial Report: Treasurer Angelo Rizzato reviewed the 2013 Treasurer’s Report which showed numbers close to last year. The report was approved. Presence of Quorum: Pat had earlier verified that the quorum requirement of 15 members was present. Election of 2014 Board: The nominees for the 2014 Board were presented and the floor was open for discussion. Attendee members then voted and the ballots were collected and counted by Brenda Guzman. All the Board ballots were given to Pat for record keeping. The 2014 Board will consist of: Steve Bowerman, Pete Lewis, Dennis Logie, Pat Michael, Bill Picht, Dave Reck, Angelo Rizzato, Hiro Tarumi, and Lee Thompson. Dennis thanked Bob Elwood for his service on the Board. Bob had elected to not run again. Dennis welcomed Bill Picht back to the Board where he had previously served in 2012. Open Forum: Dennis opened the floor for any discussion and Joe Kirby had 3 items to mention. 1. Lower the age to 75+ to not pay annual dues. 2. Day Play needs a Commissioner since Glenn Kovas has been unavailable for months and his return is uncertain. 3. Make a decision on the use of the composite handle/steel barrel two piece bat used at Day Play. All 3 items were deferred to the Board meeting that followed for discussion. Closing Remarks: Dennis thanked everyone for coming and dismissed the meeting. A motion to adjourn was approved, and the meeting ended at 7:45 PM.
