- Angelo showed an invoice for $125 paid by the Club for liability insurance during the June tournament. Angelo is concerned why we are paying for insurance that might already be covered and why a Club member paid the insurance without coordinating first with the Treasurer. Angelo will call the underwriters to get more information.
- Dave mentioned that it is time to call Parks and Rec to make sure we have fields for the Winter and Saturday Leagues. Bob Elwood will be asked to call them.
Redwood City Señors Softball Club Minutes for July 18, 2013 Board of Directors Meeting The July 2013 meeting was called to order by Steve Bowerman (Vice-President) at 7:05 PM. Members present: Steve Bowerman, Pat Michael, Dave Reck, Angelo Rizzato, and Hiro Tarumi. Absent: Dennis Logie (President), Bob Elwood, Pete Lewis, and Lee Thompson. Guest: Mark Kaufmann AGENDA ITEMS COVERED: 1. The June 6, 2013 Special Membership Meeting and the June 2013 Board Meeting minutes were reviewed and approved. The minutes have been sent to all Directors, Brenda Guzman for the website, and Donna O’Farrell for historical recording. 2. The June 2013 Treasurer’s Report was approved as submitted by Treasurer, Angelo Rizzato. There has been an influx of funds due to the June Tournament sign-ups and the July 4 one-pitch raffle ticket sale. 3. Altered Bat/Safety Concerns – Mark Kaufmann was present for this discussion. The concern is safety during the Night League due to specific players able to hit the ball significantly harder than anyone else. Pete Lewis provided specifics in a handout read by Steve. The Club wants to make sure that the bats used are legal and regardless, encourage the specific players to use a less hot bat. Angelo, who is one of the Night League Commissioners, will talk to the players involved about changing bats. To further provide a safe venue for the players, the Board approved the Night League to use a lower performance ball for two weeks. Possibly, the Club will borrow or purchase a bat tester to verify the legality of bats. 4. RWC Tournament – Bob Elwood and Dean Perkins were not present to provide a report. 5. Sponsored Teams payment – Typically, after the annual tournament, the Club pays the sponsored teams their fee. The approved fee was $600 per team. Angelo will mail out checks to the 5 sponsored teams – Chiefs 75, Chiefs 75/80, Royals 70, State Roofing 75, and Cardinals 60. 6. July 4 One-Pitch – Ralph Mariucci provided the package of information needed to coordinate this event next year. Included in the package were suggestions from Ralph on how we can improve things. The Board will consider Ralph’s suggestions and other suggestions for next year’s 1-Pitch Tournament. 7. San Bruno Inter-Club Games – The Club has sponsored home and away games with San Bruno for the past few years. The best day for the games is Wednesday since the fields are available and Day Play attendance is at a minimum. Hiro and Pat will try and get a volunteer to coordinate games for this year. 8. San Jose Giants Outing – Angelo announced that there are close to 60 members and guests signed up for next week’s event on Monday July 22. 9. Roundtable
